Internship with NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India), Government of India

 NITI Aayog, Government of India had initiated an Internship Scheme in 2015. Based on the experience in the past years a review was made. Now in supersession of all the previous guidelines in this regard, The NITI Aayog announces the revised Internship Scheme. This Scheme seeks to engage students pursuing Under Graduate/Graduate/Post Graduate Degrees or are Research Scholars enrolled in recognized University/Institution within India or abroad, as “Interns”. These “Interns” shall be given exposure to various Verticals/Divisions/Units within NITI Aayog and would be expected to supplement the process of analysis within NITI Aayog through empirical collection and collation of in-house and other information. For the “Interns” the exposure to the functioning of the Indian Government may be an add-on in furthering their future interests.
Applicants will have to apply ONLINE by filling up the registration form.

Internship with Ministry of External Affairs

The internship programme provides an excellent opportunity for budding scholars to familiarize themselves with the process of formulation of foreign policy and its implementation by the Government of India. Internship can start at any time of the year and shall be for a period of one to six months. Extension, in exceptional cases, may be granted to a case-to-case basis for intern at MEA Headquarters only.

The internship programme includes attachment with one of the Divisions in the Ministry. In addition, the internship programme at MEA Headquarters shall include:

Internship with Reserve Bank of India

The Reserve Bank of India is the prime financial authority, controlling monetary policy. RBI often offers research internships for students mainly PhD students in Economics, Banking, Finance and related fields. However, they have a Strategic Research Unit (SRU) which takes B.Tech or BE graduates as well with quantitative-oriented degrees in Economics, Finance or Statistical Science with expertise in Computer or Data Analytics. Do remember this is suggested for students who have finished their course.

Duration of internship – It is for a minimum of 6 months and is conducted in two sessions starting January 1 and July 1 of every year.
Last Date of application – Applications are accepted for the five months preceding the next batch of internship.

How to apply – Applicants have to send their CV, references, statement of purpose by post or email to cgmsru@rbi.org.in. It is followed by a personal interview, in case you’re shortlisted.

Stipend – Rs. 35,000 per month

Internship with Ministry of Finance

The Finance ministry is the ministry that looks after all financial matters like taxation centre and state Finances, union budgets, financial institutions and capital markets.

The Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance has created this internship program to familiarize students with the economic and financial policies of the Government. Students pursuing PG courses as well as 4th & 5th year students of 5 year courses from economics, Finance and management courses are eligible to apply for this internship.
Duration of internship – The internship is between two to six months anytime during the year.

Last Date of application – Students can apply by the 1st of the preceding month for which application is intended. For example, for an internship in April 2017, applications should reach by March 1, 2017.

How to apply – Students have to apply in the application forms along with their CV by post.
Stipend – Rs. 10,000 per month

Internship with Ministry of Corporate Affairs

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs monitors the companies in India and oversees their activities. It acts as a regulatory body for corporations and holds the right to implement company related acts.
It implements the Companies Act 2013, Companies Act of 1956, Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act 1969 and other Company related acts.

They have an internship program for students pursuing PG and research programs in economics, law, Finance, commerce, management and IT to understand the activities of the ministry at macro-level and implementation of policy measures by officers at micro-level. Students of IT and Computer Science B, Tech final year can also be considered for the internship.

Duration of internship – It is for a maximum of two months and will commence either June or July 2017

Internship with Department of Telecom, BSNL, MTNL, TEC, CDOT, TRAI

Department of Telecom deals in telecom, mobile. They have formed several PSUCs such as BSNL, MTNL, TEC, TRAI, CDOT etc. The internship facilities are available in these PSUs.

BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. ) was incorporated on 15th September 2000 . It took over the business of providing of telecom services and network management from the erstwhile Central Government Departments of Telecom Services (DTS) and Telecom Operations (DTO), with effect from 1st October‘2000 on going concern basis. It is one of the largest & leading public sector units providing comprehensive range of telecom services in India, except Mumbai and Delhi, which are covered by MTNL.

BSNL is one of major service provider in its license area. The Company offers wide ranging & most transparent tariff schemes designed to suit every customer. BSNL has 94.36 million cellular & 1.02 million WLL customers as on 31.10.2016. 3G Facility has been given to all 2G connections of BSNL. The goal of the internship program is to groom the interns to take up leadership positions in the development space in future while improving the gender balance in CARE.

Internships at PRS Legislative Research

PRS offers rolling internships throughout the year. The PRS staff consists of a team of dedicated professionals with different areas of expertise, and is broadly divided into the research and outreach departments. While the research team analyses legislative and policy issues of topical interest, the outreach team tracks the working of the legislatures and legislators, manages citizen engagement and is PRS’s interface with the MPs and MLAs. A prospective intern can apply for an internship in either/ both departments.

Structure of the Internship

The internship varies from session to non-session time. During a Parliament session, PRS’s work is guided by the issues taken up in Parliament and interns are expected to work with the analysts on any and all projects. During non-session periods, the interests of the individual intern are taken into consideration, and he/she is matched with an analyst(s) doing related work.
The successful completion of a PRS internship requires the intern to pursue and complete an internship project.
The duration of the internship is flexible, but is normally between four and eight weeks. The intern will be working out of the PRS office in New Delhi, assisting analysts in their research, as well as undertaking an internship project.
Please note that no accommodation or remuneration is provided. This is strictly an unpaid internship.

Internship with Ministry of Women and Child Development

Earlier a department under the HRD Ministry, the Ministry of Women and Child Development became a full-fledged ministry in 2016. The internship program is meant for students from UG, PG and Research from any discipline/subject to understand the formulation of policies and programs of the Ministry.

As you are aware, you to our organisation Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) is a multi-disciplinary organization under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, manned by experts in the fields of accountancy, forensic audit, general law, information technology, investigation, company law, capital market, Income Tax and Customs & Central Excise etc. It is an agency that investigates white-collar crimes/frauds from a multi-disciplinary perspective. Within SFIO, there is a Market Research and Analysis Unit (MRAU) for conducting market surveillance and preparing reports on suspect corporate entities.
2. SFIO has an internship programme which was started in 2017 to provide a platform for interaction of talented and young scholars and researchers from reputed academic institutions who are pursuing Post-Graduation/Research Program in Economics/Commerce/Law/ Management and Computer Forensics as well as professional courses with Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Cost Accountants of India (CMA) and Institute of Company Secretaries of India with officers of SFIO, including its Regional Offices. The programme also provides an opportunity to interns to not only familiarize themselves with the working of the Government but also offers a chance to gain hands-on experience in specialized skills in their area of study as well as working in teams. The guidelines for the internship program are enclosed.

GUIDELINES FOR THE INTERNSHIP SCHEME
(i) Eligibility:
Students in Post Graduate Courses — MBA (Finance), Law Students in 4th/5thYears of a five year stream with consistent and excellent academic records/fresh graduates with excellent academic records possessing a first class graduation degree; students pursuing post-graduation with high second class graduation degree (with at least 55% marks/students pursuing Masters/Research Courses in Economics/Finance/Management/Law at National School of Economics/Law / Computer Forensic from recognised universities in India and Abroad, students pursuing final year or equivalent of ICAI, ICAI (CMA),ICSI/Central Universities/AICTE recognized financial/Economic Institutions/Recognised National Management Institutes/Foreign Universities and Institutions of excellence can apply for the internship. The internship program would be applicable to Indian Nationals only. First Class Degree in Graduation shall be mandatory and Post-Graduation with high second class graduation degree with at least 55% marks)
(ii) Stipend:
The intern undergoing the internship will be paid stipend @ Rs. 7000/- (Rupees Seven thousand only) per month for the period of internship on certification from the officer of the intern is attached to.
(iii) Duration:
The internship will be for a minimum period of one month and maximum period of two months.
(iv) Declaration of Secrecy:
Interns shall be required to furnish a Declaration of secrecy prior to the commencement of the internship.
(v) Submission of papers:
The intern will be required to present to the Director, SFIO an assignment Report on the allotted subject at the end of the internship, and also to provide a feedback of their experience of the internship program.
(vi) Certificate of Internship:
Certificates will be awarded to interns upon satisfactory completion of their internship and on submission of their end of assignment Report, and its evaluation by the concerned official of SFIO.
(vii) The internship will neither be a job nor an assurance of a job in the Serious Fraud Investigation Office.

Internship with Ministry of Law and Justice

Ministry of Law and Justice gives  Legislative Department internships  for legislation, legal process and learning about  the workings of the ministry.
This internship program is with the Legislative Department and revolves around drafting the legislation for the government. A great opportunity for final year students studying law”, the idea behind the internship is to motivate young candidates to take an active interest in drafting the legislation.
Duration of the internship – Variable – Between four to six weeks.
Last Date of application – Open throughout the year, candidates can apply for the internship at given point of time. However, only five candidates are selected at any given point of time to be a part of the internship program.

Internship with Competition Commission of India

The Competition Commission of India overseas the implementation of the objectives of the Competition Act, 2002. It also ensures that practices which can potentially have an adverse effect on competition are removed and a healthy competitive environment is provided to protect the rights of the consumers.
CCI Internship Program
The internships offered by the Commission invite “students from economics, law, management and finance are recruited” to understand and familiarise themselves with the workings of the law, specifically competition law and policy.
Duration of internship – One Month
Last Date of application – The application should reach the office by the 1st of the preceding month for which application is intended. For an internship in March 2018, applicants should send in their application by 1st Feb 2018.

Internship with National Museum, Ministry of Culture

The National Museum has been in operation since 1949, being  keepers of over 5,000 years of historical arte facts and serves as a focal point for national identity. It does this by collecting objects of historical, cultural and artistic significance – and spreading knowledge about them.
National Museum Internships
Museum offers an internship program for “students who are pursuing UG and PG courses in anthropology, history, art history, archaeology, sciences, languages, museology, library sciences, sculpture and fine arts” and give them appropriate exposure to explore art and culture.
Duration of internship –The internship is offered in two sessions through the year.

  • Summer Internship – Spreading over a period of 6, 9 and 12 months in the months of May, June and July.
  • Winter Internship –Conducted over a period of , 9 and 12 months in the months December, January and February.

Internship with National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)

NHRC is a statutory body to hold the light to human rights, investigate and enquire into cases of possible abuse and recommend a course of action to the government on them. They safeguard, protect and educate on human rights. NHRC has been offering both summer and winter internships since 2000, with short-term, 15 internships on the side.
Summer Internships
Where: New Delhi
Duration: 30 Days (May-June-July)
Who can apply:

  • Students near completion of their 3-year LLB program (when applying). Those who have completed 3+2 B.A.LL.B. program can also apply.
  • Students pursuing LL.M course and 4th and 5th years from Integrated Law Course.
  • Students pursuing MA in Human Rights, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work (MSW), Criminology, Public Administration, Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce, Anthropology, International Relations and others in Social Sciences from UGC recognised universities. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India is the regulatory body which governs, formulates rules and regulates all telecom companies. As an intern, you would be attached to an advisor level officer in a given division and assigned projects and work reports to accomplish.  The commission heads India’s efforts at a transparent and open governance, ensuring that the right to information is maintained. Generally for law students, a summer internship in 2017 with the organisation, will give  a chance to be involved in empirical research and analysis.

CPPR) is a think tank dedicated to extensive and in-depth research on current economic, social, and political issues. Internship with Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC)

An autonomous body under the Department of Science and Technology, the TIFAC offers 5-6 government internship positions every year. It is called spring internship for 6 months to a year long.
